Children
's Yoga

| Wednesday
|
4:00
to 5:30 pm |
Classes are developed
around this concept: working in resistance, all movements originate
from the spine in relation to gravity. This prevents injury
common in unconscious movements made in most forms of yoga.
This work precisely reshapes the musculature, skeletal, and
nervous systems enabling the body to perform with aplomb. The
intelligence of the spine is awakened. This allows for students
with no prior experience and those who have spent time with
the work to work together; everyone respecting their own possibility.

SCALING HALEAKALA
A course designed to teach the children how to read write music.We
use the analogy between montain and music.For example, the triangular
shape of the mountain- the sacred triangle of I-V-I in the bass;
the outline at the top - melodies on the musical staff; the
power and majesty- use of loud dynamics and dense block-chords;
layers and rock - the levels in a musical staff; the hardness
of the rock - accents and other articulation of sound; the weight
of mountain -low register, ect.
Children create multi media mountain pieces based in the music
and stories of Erik Satie, ad involving creation of pictures,
story lines and movement. Hand puppets perform a lesson within
the lesson; and close up magic tricks show, by comparison, the
greater power of music's magic. Recommended for all students-
private keyboard lessons, 15-2O' before and after the Scaling
Haleakala sessions.
