Gravity
is like a magnet attracting us to the earth, but this attraction
in not limited to pulling us down. It allows us to stretch in
the opposite direction towards the sky.
There are no beginners or advanced students in the practice
of any form of yoga.
-Exactness, balance
and harmony are not a performance... they are a liberation.
This means that
fundamental principles, such as this one are the same in all
asana. However, they have to be clearly explained by the teacher
and fully understood by the student. There is no age limit,
and no damage will occur if the movement originates from the
spine. It is not the performance of the exercises that matters,
but rather the way we are doing them.
The teaching is
developed around this concept; working in resistance, all
movements originate from the spine in relation to gravity.
This prevents injury common in unconscious movements made
in most forms of dance and yoga. The work precisely reshapes
the musculature and skeletal portions of the nervous system
enabling the body to perform with aplomb. The intelligence
of the spine is awake.
